Owner/Training Director

  • Head Trainer Meg Poinsett began her training career as a client of Front Range K9 Academy.

She rapidly completed all levels of Obedience with her demo dogs, “Duke” (Heinz 57 mix) and “Marlee” (German shepherd) - both large, young, energetic dogs. Duke & Marlee have earned their AKC CGC, CGCA, CGCU & Rally Intermediate titles.

Meg showed an early aptitude for training, and understanding dog behavior, as well as a voracious appetite for knowledge about all things canine.

With her background as a human teacher, she was a perfect fit for our apprenticeship program. Meg brings her skills as a teacher and her passion for dogs to create a really amazing trainer.

In 2022, Meg added “Baja” - her first whippet pup - to her pack. Meg and Baja are actively involved in lure coursing, racing, barn hunt, flyball, agility, nose work, weight pull and more!

Baja is the first whippet in the United States to earn her APA STAR weight pull title!

Meg is qualified to teach all levels of our Obedience and Problem Solving training, and teaches Nose Work, Tricks and CGC classes and testing.

  • Roger has had a passion for dogs his entire life.

He joined the United States Air Force in April of 2000 wanting to work with Military Canines.  He worked with Military Working Dogs getting his WRAP (Military Bite Work) certification and adopted a Military Working Dog (VVesta) and fell in love with the Belgain Malinois breed.

Roger spent 20 years with the U.S. Air Force and retired in 2020 as a Technical Sergeant (E-6). After his dog VVesta passed, he adopted a Black Lab/Great Pyrenees/Chesapeake Bay Retriever mix (Jameson) from the Weld County Humane Society and fell in love with the canine training process.

He decided to turn his love of dogs into a career and attended The Highland School for Dog Trainers in Harmony, North Carolina where he earned his Master Dog Trainer certification under the guidance of the International Association of Canine Professionals (IACP) President; Jason Purgason.

Roger graduated with Honors and captured several awards including the Search and Rescue Award, and was also recognized for his efforts for being the only student trusted to take a Working Dog in training home to raise during his time at Highland Canine.

After he graduated, Roger travelled to Oregon to evaluate a Dutch Shepherd and adopted him (Rollo) to train as a Service Dog. Roger and his wife Rebekah are dedicated to ensuring their dogs are happy and well trained and work with different rescues to help dogs in need find their Fur-ever homes.
